Hey there Momma! Welcome to Making Mommas.

Making Mommas is a stay-at-home mom blog where we have real conversations about motherhood, marriage, and the everyday work of building a strong family and a meaningful home.

Because the truth is, the most important work many of us will ever do doesn’t happen in an office or on a stage. It happens right inside our homes — raising children, strengthening our marriages, creating family traditions, and building a life that centers around the people we love the most.

Around here we believe that motherhood matters, families matter, and the small moments of everyday life are the ones that shape our children the most.

Strong families build a better world.

You won’t find perfection here. Just encouragement, practical ideas, and reminders to slow down and focus on what truly matters.

As Mother Teresa once said:

“If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”

Because the children we’re raising today are the ones who will shape the world tomorrow — and the work we do as mothers matters more than we may ever realize.

What You’ll Find Here at Making Mommas

Motherhood is one of the most meaningful — and sometimes most overwhelming — seasons of life. There’s a lot of noise in the world telling moms how they should raise their kids, run their homes, and spend their time.

But here at Making Mommas, the goal is much simpler.

This community is about encouraging moms who want to build strong families, strengthen their marriages, and create homes centered around faith, love, and connection.

Motherhood matters. The work we do inside our home matters. And the way we raise our children matters more than we realize.

So, we spend a lot of time talking about things like:

• raising kids with intention and strong values
• building deeper relationships with your children
• keeping your marriage strong while raising a family
• creating simple family traditions that bring everyone closer together
• finding practical ways to run your home with less stress and more peace

Because the way we love our families today shapes the kind of world our children will live in tomorrow.

The Heart Behind Making Mommas

At Making Mommas, we believe strong families are the foundation of everything. When families are strong, communities are strong — and the world changes from the inside out.

Here are a few of the values that shape this community.

God First, Then Family

Our priorities matter. Faith comes first, followed by our marriage, then our children. Everything else in life should fall somewhere after that.

Strong Marriages Build Strong Families

A healthy marriage creates stability, security, and love for the whole family. Investing in your relationship with your spouse is one of the best things you can do for your children.

Connection Matters More Than Perfection

The moments we share around the dinner table, during family traditions, and in everyday life are what shape our children and strengthen our relationships.

Families Need Margin

Modern life pushes families to do more, schedule more, and run faster. Many families are stretched far too thin. Kids don’t need endless activities — they need time at home with the people who love them most.

Motherhood Is a Calling

Being a mom isn’t small work. It is one of the most important callings we will ever have — raising children, shaping hearts, and guiding the next generation.

Meet Shannon

My youngest three… sorry I’m not so good at taking selfies! LOL

Hi, I’m Shannon — the mom behind Making Mommas.

I have six boys and live in northern Minnesota, where life revolves around family, home, and the everyday work of raising kids. Years ago, when the twins were born, I made the decision to stay home with my kids. Like many families, we had to learn how to make that work financially. That journey eventually led me to start this blog.

Making Mommas began in 2015 as a place where moms could encourage each other and share ideas for raising strong families. Over the years the blog has grown and changed right alongside our family, but the heart behind it has always stayed the same.

I believe motherhood matters. I believe strong families build a better world. And I believe the work we do inside our homes — loving our families, raising our children, and building meaningful traditions — is the most important work there is.
