Want to be a Successful Blogger? Make These Super Important Mind Switches Today!!

Hey there momma!!

Are you trying to monetize a blog, but failing miserably? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Been there, done that!!

Blogging can be a fun and fulfilling way to share your passions with the world. But, it can be really tough to get started, especially if you’re a one-person show.

It can often feel overwhelming, and at times, it may seem as if you’re not making any progress despite your hard work.

The other day, I was sitting at Verizon for 2 ½ hours. Getting my phone replaced. FINALLY. It was a frustrating, long ordeal.

But the lady I was talking to, who was helping me – is writing an ebook! She asked what I do for a living, and I said I was a freelance writer. So, she told me all about this ebook that she is writing for her side gig, which is breeding wolf dogs.

She really geeked out on wolf dogs! 😂🤣

After talking for a while, I learned that she’s also starting her own website. And she’s brand new to Canva (but loving it!).

Sitting and talking to her was so fun because no one in my little community blogs! She is the first I’ve heard of, and she’s not even starting a blog. She wants to get into digital marketing.

And then, after that, I went to Parent Teacher Conferences. Where my son’s teacher told me that I just keep looking younger and younger, every time she sees me. 😁

And she said, “You must really like what you do.”

And I do!! I really, really do!!

(I used to work with her, at the school. I was the school social worker. I must’ve looked horrible in those days! 😂🤣)

I am so in love with what I do. 🙃 I am literally living my dream life over here!

But it wasn’t always this way, momma.

I used to cry myself to sleep at night, wondering what in the world I was doing.

And if I was making the right decision. Should I keep going? Or go back to work?

And why in the world was nothing working for me?!?

When you are just getting started, momma, and everything is so.incredibly.hard. and all you want to do is throw in the towel and walk away, it’s important to remember that many successful bloggers have been in the same shoes as you!!

You are not alone!

But there are several mind switches they’ve made to get to where they are today!!

And I’ve been (painfully slowly!) learning them over the years.

So, in this post, I’ll share some of those mind switches with you, so that you can start blogging with confidence momma!!

Make these changes now and you will see instant improvement!!

(This post has Amazon affiliate links in it, meaning if you purchase a book I recommend from one of my links, I earn a small commission. See my disclosure policy for more details.)

Stop trying to do it all.

As a new blogger, it’s easy to be distracted by every shiny object that comes your way!! There are so many things to do, and they all needed to be done yesterday!

The key to success, however, is to stay focused on the few things that will really drive the meter!!

And let the rest go. There’s another day for that.

Focus only on three goals. Three things that will really move the needle forward for you.

It can be super hard to figure out what you should do that will make the most progress though. I know, I get that!

What helped me the most was The 12-Week Year. Get that book! Follow it!

And you’ll easily see what the most important things are for you to focus on right now, to make the absolute most progress (and get the most out of your time!!).

Don’t expect immediate success.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a successful blog.

It takes time, effort, and consistency to build a loyal readership. Remember that success is not an overnight thing, and you won’t achieve instant results.

None of those “overnight successes” were actually overnight successes. They spent years working up to that “overnight success”.

When they suddenly took off, that’s where you find out about them! But they were there all along, patiently working behind the scenes for their big break.

And you need to do the same. If you stay consistent and keep plugging away, you’ll eventually get to where you want to be.

Stop trying to do it yourself.

There is such a huge learning curve when it comes to blogging. You can learn it all on your own, but it is painfully slow! And you’ll make so many mistakes.

I know coaching and courses are expensive – especially on a sahm’s salary. 😆 So start small.

Start with free courses, free ebooks, and free Facebook groups. YouTube videos are great too. And when you start making a little money, reinvest that into your business.

Buy some books and courses. Get coaching if you can. And if you can’t, do what I did – work for a highly successful blogger!!

Be a sponge. Serve them well but soak up everything you are doing for them and all that goes on behind the scenes. And then turn around and do it for your own blog. 😉

Stop trying to be perfect.

Be yourself!! Your readers want to read content that is authentic and relatable. They don’t want to read the same old same old that they can find on every other blog out there.

They don’t need regurgitated content.

They need you! Your voice. Your message. Your guidance.

Be yourself, and let your personality shine through in your writing and online presence. Readers are more likely to engage with you and return to your blog if they feel that they can connect with you on a human level.

A great book to help you figure out your voice, your message, and your offers is Expert Secrets. I’d read that one next, right after The 12 Week Year.

Stop trying to go it alone.

Contrary to popular belief, blogging is not a one-man show!

As a new blogger, building relationships with other bloggers and influencers in your industry is essential for your growth. Attend blogging conferences, follow other bloggers, and get on their email lists! Collaborate with them, and partner with brands to help build your online presence.

I have three bloggers that I follow. Like “I’m your biggest fan” kind of follow. 😂🤣 And I even work for one of them! Know how I landed that gig?

I was on their email list!! 😁

You don’t have to be an expert.

Remember my story about the gal at Verizon?

I may not be an expert in digital marketing, but I know more than she does! 😁

You don’t have to be an expert to help your audience. You just need to be one step ahead of them.

So go ahead! Share your successes. Share your failures. Share what you are currently learning. Share anything and everything that will help your audience out.

They aren’t as far along as you are, and they will soak it up.

Stop calling yourself a blogger.

You are a business owner!!

Not a blogger.

Look at your blog like a business. It needs to generate income, or it’ll die. How are you going to do that?

You will have business expenses as well. You need to bring in more income than your expenses. You need to worry about profit and loss. You need a business plan.

Start picking up some business books. Books like Profit First and Fix This Next are great places to start.

Track your income. Track your expenses.

Track your work hours! How much are you making per hour?

This is a business, and you need to start treating it as such.

Stop chasing passive income.

At least until you’ve learned to trade your time for money.

There’s actually a ladder we need to climb, even as bloggers. You thought you left the corporate world behind you, didn’t you?!? 🤣😂

But there’s a right and a wrong way to go about making money online. And if you need money fast, which I’m sure you do, because you are living off of one income, then you need to do it the right way!

Start by offering a service. I know you’ll fight this because I did too. You want that easy, passive income so that you can go play with your kids.

I know!!

But you need to offer a service first and get the money rolling in. If you don’t, you’ll quit and go back to work. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Be a freelance writer, virtual assistant, or Pinterest VA.

Get the money rolling in and then focus on your blog and that passive income. It’ll work, pinky swear. 😉

As a new mom blogger, your success depends on your mindset!!

By adopting the right mindset switches, you can overcome obstacles, stay motivated, and achieve your blogging goals.

Remember, success is not overnight; it takes time, effort, and the right mindset.

Keep learning, keep growing, and most importantly, keep blogging.

(Just keep blogging, just keep blogging, what do we do? We blog, blog blog!)
